Finite-difference complex-wavevector band structure solver for analysis and design of periodic radiative microphotonic structures.
We demonstrate a finite-difference approach to complex-wavevector band structure simulation and its use as a tool for the analysis and design of periodic leaky-wave photonic devices. With the (usually real) operating frequency and unit-cell refractive index distribution as inputs, the eigenvalue problem yields the complex-wavevector eigenvalues and Bloch modes of the simulated structure. In a t...
متن کاملAn efficient finite difference time domain algorithm for band structure calculations of Phononic crystal
In this paper, a new algorithm for studying elastic wave propagation in the phononic crystals is presented. At first, the displacement-based forms of elastic wave equations are derived and then the forms are discretized using finite difference method. So the new algorithm is called the displacement-based finite difference time domain (DBFDTD). Three numerical examples are computed with this met...
متن کاملNovel Four-Channel All Optical Demultiplexer Based on Square PhCRR for Using WDM Applications
Ring resonators have always been referred to as a highly flexible structurefor designing optical devices. In this study, we have designed and simulation a fourchannel optical demultiplexer using square photonic crystal ring resonator. The squarelattice constant for this purpose structure is used. The purposed structure has an averagecrosstalk, transmission coefficient, q...
متن کاملDesign of Endlessly Single Mode Photonic Crystal Fibers with Desirable Properties using HC-EDA Algorithm
In this article, Hill Climbing (HC) and Estimation of Distribution Algorithm (EDA) are integrated to produce a hybrid intelligent algorithm for design of endlessly Single Mode Photonic Crystal Fibers (SMPCFs) structure with desired properties over the C communication band. In order to analyzing the fiber components, Finite Difference Frequency Domain (FDFD) solver is applied. In addition, a spe...
متن کاملDevelopment of a high performance manycore-enabled finite element type solver for the numerical modeling of nanoscale light/matter interaction Master internship project Host institutions and supervisors
Nanostructuring of materials has opened up a number of new possibilities for manipulating and enhancing light-matter interactions, thereby improving fundamental device properties. Low-dimensional semiconductors, like quantum dots, enable one to catch the electrons and control the electronic properties of a material, while photonic crystal structures allow synthesizing the electromagnetic proper...
